“Going green” is the focus in the latest edition of “RVoice,” a newsletter published by National Adhesives (www.nationaladh.com) for the RV industry. The lead story addresses what being eco-friendly means for the RV industry, economically and environmentally.
According to the publication, by using and creating products that have less impact on the environment, RV companies not only aid in protecting the planet but also reduce manufacturing costs. For example, Genesis Products, Inc., and Indiana-based manufacturer of laminated and hardwood cabinets and other interior products for RVs, recycles 20 million pounds of scrap and other material yearly, reducing waste and expensive disposal costs. They also use sustainable materials such as renewable hardwoods.
In another article, Bob Ries, Director of Quality Assurance at Dutchmen Manufacturing, shares his thoughts on why his company leads the way in RV quality and safety. Dutchmen takes at least one RV daily, drenches it with four thousand gallons of recycled water in the rain bay, and notes how well a unit would cope in weather situations.
Ries’s company began using National Adhesive’s PUR-FORMANCE™ LPU (liquid polyurethane adhesive) in 2007 and found that the product’s “bonding ability to aluminum, which is a difficult bond, is much better than other products we have tried,” Ries said.
