BASF’s Glysantin engine coolant, soon to be introduced to the North American market, offers threefold engine protection against corrosion, overheating and frost.
The Glysantin product line will be available in the U.S. starting January 2020.
Glysantin has been marketed by BASF since 1929 and the company’s recent investments in production at its Cincinnati site allow it to expand distribution into North America.
The Cincinnati plant produces esters and synthetic lubricants for the agricultural, transmission fluid, gear and axle lubricant and aviation lubricant markets.
The technical, production and distribution expertise gained through its Ohio operation provides BASF with the know-how to expand Glysantin into the new market.
The Glysantin line has gained approvals from the domestic and international auto manufacturers and will be supplied as factory fill to several companies.
The company’s partnership with Old World Industries, whose brands include PEAK® antifreeze, allows BASF to leverage OWI’s distribution network to supply dealers and auto parts retailers.
“North America is the most important market for automotive coolants in the world, and our local production and presence will be a differentiator for our customers,” BASF Vice President for Fuel and Lubricants Brian Lieberman says.
