The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.
Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Henson says that RV Inspection Connection was created in 2013 because of the request from prospective RV buyers looking for an independent third party inspection on the used RV they were looking to purchase. Henson and other employees heard comments like “when I purchased a home I got a home inspection…. so who is doing home inspections for RVs?” according to a press release.
There were so many requests coming in from individuals across the United States that the need for a nationwide RV inspection company was made clear. The goal was to serve 60 percent of the market of used RV sales that take place in the private sector at the seller’s home, storage facility or in an RV park.
However, after three years of helping these buyers with their pre-purchase inspections, RV Inspection Connection found that 52 percent of all inspections completed had been performed on a dealership’s lot at the buyer’s request. To further validate the value of the pre-purchase inspection, it was found that more than 32 percent of the oil samples that were pulled and analyzed on motorhome engines or transmissions showed there to be a major issue. Many of these fluid samples showed there to be critical engine or transmission component breakdown with looming expensive catastrophic failure.
Henson says because The Blue Shield Certified Pre-Owned Program does not require a dealership to certify its entire used inventory, the sales department can now offer Pre-Owned Certified units or non-certified units just as the auto industry has been doing over the years. Dealerships now can have their selected inventory inspected by RV Inspection Connection’s certified inspectors, which will free up the dealership’s technicians to focus on their many weeks of backlog of pending service work.
