RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Family Motor Coach Association Will Host 94th Convention

The Family Motor Coach Association will host its 94th International Convention at the Eastern States Exposition, home of the Big E, Aug. 3-6, 2016.

FMCA is an international organization for families who own and enjoy the recreational use of motorhomes. The association maintains its national headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has about 70,000 active member families. FMCA offers its members a number of benefits, including a subscription to its monthly magazine, Family Motor Coaching, group discounts on a roadside assistance program, motorhome insurance and member-only RV tours and caravans.

The association also hosts two conventions each year, which is what will bring the group to West Springfield, Massachusetts, in early August. The event, which will be the group's 94th International Convention, has been dubbed “Celebrate Your Freedom,” in honor of the history of the host area and the freedom that RV travel brings.

Convention activities: Association members will gather to enjoy activities such as a sizable motorhome exhibition. Leading manufacturers and dealers will bring new motorhomes for viewing. A variety of motorhomes will be on display. In addition, companies will exhibit RV components, accessories, campground information, home products, and more. Other options will include informative seminars, entertainment, social activities and an opportunity to visit and explore the local area.

More than 1,000 motorhomes and some 3,000 people are expected to gather at Eastern States Exposition. Area residents are welcome to come view the motorhomes and the RV components and accessories that will be on display.

Daily admission for exhibits is $10 per person; children 12 and under admitted free with an accompanying adult. Individuals with an active military ID will be admitted free. A Daily Passport that provides admittance to the exhibits, seminars and evening entertainment is available for $65 per person ($55 for FMCA members). Show hours on Wednesday Aug. 3, will be from 1 to 5 p.m.; hours on Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 4-6, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Public parking will be available at Gate 9 off of Memorial Avenue. A facility parking fee will be charged.
