Derald Bontrager Resigns as RVIA Chairman of the Board

Tue Jul 19, 2016

RVIA’s First Vice Chairman Bob Parish, vice president with Wells Fargo, will fulfill the chairman’s duties until the Board elects a new chairman and Executive Committee at the September meeting in Burlington, Vermont.

Thor President and CEO Bob Martin, who is running for reelection in the association’s August elections, will continue to serve as Thor’s official representative to the RVIA Board of Directors. Bontrager plans to remain active on the RVIA Board as a non-voting Past Chairman Emeritus.

“Derald has been a wise and insightful voice within the industry and RVIA for many years,” RVIA President Frank Hugelmeyer says. “We appreciate his leadership as chairman and look forward to his continued participation in the association.”

Thor acquired Jayco on July 1 for $576 million, bringing together two of the top five manufacturing companies in the industry under one umbrella. The acquisition had been in the works for months before it was finalized, while talks had happened for more than a year between the two Indiana-based companies.

Bontrager was elected chairman of the board in 2014 and has served on the RVIA Board and on the Executive Committee since 2009, holding the positions of first vice chairman, second vice chairman, secretary and treasurer. He also has served as chairman of the Audit Committee and as a member of the Go RVing Coalition, Public & Legislative Affairs Committee, Public Relations Committee, RV Service Training Council and Strategic Planning Committee.
