Camco Manufacturing Celebrates 50 Years

Wed Jul 20, 2016

145755744299520.pngThis year Camco Manufacturing is celebrating its 50 year anniversary. Don Caine founded Camco in 1966 with one employee and one product and recalls mixing his first batches of antifreeze with a 2 x 2 board. He and his wife Teresa initially worked in a 5,000 square foot building on Gate City Boulevard in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The work was laborious and draining, and they oftentimes found themselves working Saturdays and Sundays just to meet production demands, according to a press release.

After 50 years of modest but steady growth, Camco approaches $200 million in gross revenue in 2016. Adding new products, new people, moving to increasingly larger buildings and adding new square footage have all been constants in the Camco story. When asked if they ever experienced the growing pains many new businesses face, Caine says it only happened at the beginning.

“Only initially. Once I figured out that hiring good, hardworking people will make everything run smoothly - everything did," he says. "In fact, he credits a large part of Camco’s success to the people who work there and the small, family atmosphere they have maintained throughout the years."

Camco has always held a commitment to its employees and its country. Today, the company boasts more than 500 employees and three separate manufacturing facilities in the United States, where it creates and assembles many of its 3,000 + products. By working with inventors, entrepreneurs and small businesses, Camco has been able to bring hundreds of new products to the market over the years. Camco takes pride in listening to its customers and meeting the ever changing demands of a challenging marketplace while maintaining its strong reputation of quality products and customer satisfaction.
