ELKHART, Indiana — The Elkhart City Council has reversed three preliminary findings deeming Dometic Corp. and two other firms non-compliant with terms of the tax breaks they received for expansion plans.
The council had initially decided last month that Genesis Products Inc., Dometic Corp. and Zeeland Lumber Operations didn't fully comply with terms of tax abatements granted by the city, putting their tax breaks at risk.
But those initial determinations stemmed in part from confusion over some of the details in the paperwork the firms filed as part of the routine annual review of their tax breaks. On receiving clarification and additional information from company officials, the council voted unanimously this week to deem all three in compliance with the abatements.
