The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

CHARLOTTE, Michigan - Spartan Motors, Inc. has reported operating results for the second quarter of 2016. The company reported net income of $4.4 million, or $0.13 per share, compared to a $1.2 million or $0.03 per share in the second quarter of 2015.
For the second quarter of 2016 compared to the second quarter of 2015, highlights included:
-Sales increased 12.2 percent to $162.5 million from $144.8 million
-Gross margin improved 80 basis points to 12.8 percent of sales compared to 12 percent of sales
-Operating expenses declined 30 basis points to 10.1 percent of sales from 10.4 percent of sales
-Operating income increased 86.7 percent to $4.4 million from $2.3 million
-Adjusted operating income rose 111.2 percent to $6.3 million from $3 million
-Net income grew 272 percent to $4.4 million, or $0.13 per share, versus $1.2 million or $0.03 per share
-Adjusted net income rose $4.2 million to $6.3 million, or $0.19 per share, versus $2.1 million or $0.06 per share
-Cash balance increased 93 percent to $39.8 million at June 30, up from $20.6 million at June 30, 2015
-Order backlog increased to $304 million at June 30, from $262.7 million at June 30, 2015
-Repurchased 421,692 shares at an average price of $4.74 per share or $2 million in the aggregate
