RV/MH Hall of Fame's Revival Comes on Heels of Near Collapse

Mon Aug 8, 2016

ELKHART, Indiana — In early 2012, the RV/MH Hall of Fame was on the brink of financial collapse.

At the time, the hall owed $5.5 million and didn’t have enough cash flow to pay off loans. Its board members considered turning over the 85,000-square-foot complex to 1st Source Bank and relocating the hall.

“They were going to go four miles west and open the Hall of Fame in an abandoned Martin’s grocery store,” President of the Hall Darryl Searer says.

Fortunately, that bailout plan was avoided after the hall crafted a strategy to pay off debt owed to families who helped cover the construction of the $8 million Elkhart complex.
