Indiana Representative Hears About Elkhart Worker Shortage

Fri Aug 26, 2016

ELKHART, Indiana — U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski, R-Indiana, traveled to Elkhart on Thursday to hear from leaders in the local recreational vehicle and boating sectors.

Almost unanimously, they sounded a similar message: They can't find workers to fill vacant positions.

Mark Lucas, vice president of Furrion, a supplier to the RV and boating sectors, says the company is trying to attract workers from outside the area, hoping to add to the labor pool, in part with internship programs targeting schools outside the immediate area.
