RV News Exclusive: New Demco Fifth Wheel Hitch On Display

Mon Sep 12, 2016

147369964515271.jpgDemco Products will be displaying its brand new Recon fifth wheel hitch at the Supplier Showcase in Elkhart, Indiana next week.

The new lightweight fifth wheel hitch was created by Demco as a response to consumer demand and other fifth wheel manufacturers coming out with similar products. However, Doug Northcutt, the RV Product Sales Manager, says Demco wanted to offer a better option.

“We’ve seen a couple of other fifth wheel hitch manufacturers come out with similar products that we thought were interesting,” Northcutt says. “Their products all had to have some type of adapter to work with a fifth wheel trailer and we thought we could offer something very similar without having the extra pieces. We wanted to do what they’ve done and try to do it a little better or offer a different option.”

The Demco R&D team took on the project, and for the past year, has worked with the product and tested it to be ready by the fall.

“We’ve seen some of that hitch style gaining popularity and we’re the only company with a full line of hitches, so we felt we needed to add to it to continue that offering of a complete line.”

The hitch weighs about 100 pounds less than the standard fifth wheel hitch and gives the dealers and prospective dealers another option to use, from the Recon style to the company’s automatic sliding hitch, Northcutt says.

The hitch is not the only thing to be displayed during the Supplier Showcase. Demco also will show its Kar Kaddy 460SS, its Victory Series tow bar and another line of fifth wheel hitches, called the Highjacker.

“The Kar Kaddy is a centerpiece of a lot of our stores,” Northcutt says. “We’ll have a broad spectrum of products. We are looking forward to being in Elkhart.”

The Supplier Showcase will take place from Sept. 20-21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at the Norco Industries facility on the corner of County Road 6 and Northland Drive.
