Five Indiana Companies Could Lose Tax Abatements in 2017

Tue Sep 20, 2016

ELKHART, Indiana — A few local companies could have tax incentives re-evaluated in 2017 after announcements of layoffs earlier in the year.

Five companies – Chassix in Bristol, CTS in Elkhart, EverGreen RV in Middlebury, Harman International in Elkhart and Goshen Coach in Goshen – have announced plans to lay off a combined total of around 1,400 employees since early this past spring.

The layoffs have thrown into question whether or not the companies will have to pay back any tax incentives they might have received for expansions or job creation plans that did not meet expectations.
