RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

RV Industry Veteran Passes Away at 81

Clarence D. James, 81, of Osceola, Indiana, died Sunday Oct. 2 at the Center for Hospice in Elkhart.

The Peterborough, Ontario native worked in the RV industry for more than 40 years, mainly on the supplier and service sides. He worked as a regional sales manager for Onan and vice president of sales and marketing for PowerTech RV Generators. In 2012, he joined Firefly Integrations in its sales department.

James was born June 29, 1935 to Clarence E. & Muriel (Hunter) James in Ontario. On Dec. 31, 1960, he married Shirley Jackett in Fenelon Falls, Ontario. He had been a resident of Osceola, Indiana for 51 years, moving from Labrador, Newfoundland and was a member of First Baptist Church in Elkhart.

In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert James. He is survived by Shirley James, his wife of 55 years and their children, Troy James of South Bend, Tracy (James) Newlin of Diana, Texas; Tonya James of Sydney, Australia; Terry (Jeff) Burrell of Crown Point, Indiana; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
