SOUTH BEND, Indiana — About 270 EverGreen RV employees lost their jobs in June when the Middlebury company abruptly went out of business.
For some, that wasn't the end of their troubles. About a month after their jobs evaporated, a Gibson Insurance Agency employee's laptop computer was stolen on July 28, the company says in a press release issued on Friday. Gibson, based in South Bend, managed employee health insurance benefits programs for EverGreen RV.
Gibson's records show the stolen computer contained names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and health insurance information for several former EverGreen employees, but no personal medical records. The information would be valuable to identity thieves, but Gibson's press release says there is no evidence of anyone's personal info being stolen.
