RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

RV Shipments Highest in Decades

145072659275994.jpgLouisville, Ky, -- The RV Industry Association says seasonally adjusted shipments in the month of September were at an annualized rate of more than 420,000 units, well above industry forecasts.

Deliveries to retailers of all RVs were reported at 33,704 units in RVIA’s September survey of manufacturers, 20.5% greater than this same month last year, which at the time was 12.4% ahead of September 2014.

Year-to-date in 2016, total RV shipments to retailers have now reached 324,286 units through the first three quarters of the year, 13.8 perent ahead of this same period last year. Towable RVs have gained 13.5 percent while motorhomes shipments are ahead by 15.8 percent through September.

Park Model RV (PMRV) shipments also enjoyed a solid September with shipments jumping by 11.6 percent to 288 units, up from 258 units last September. For the year, PMRV shipments are running in step with last year with 2,865 units shipped, compared to 2,900 units last year.
