RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Camp Cooking Company 'Camp Chef' Sold to Vista Outdoor

In 1990, Camp Chef was founded in Logan, Utah and the company has steadily grown and expanded since then. The outdoor cooking company offers more than 250 different products, from camp stoves, outdoor grills, smokers, fire pits to a full line of cast-iron cookware and accessories. This fall, the privately-owned Cache Valley company was acquired by another outdoor products company, Vista Outdoor.

Vista Outdoor is a publicly-traded company, also based in Utah, which has 50 different brands in shooting sports and outdoor recreation. According to an official release, Vista Outdoor will pay a total purchase price of $74 million for Camp Chef, comprised of $60 million in cash paid at closing and $14 million in cash to be paid out in equal installments on the first, second and third anniversaries of the closing date, subject to certain conditions.
