The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.
Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

ANN ARBOR, Michigan – When the late February winds blow through St. Clairsville, Ohio, Bob Stewart will have other things on his mind: Florida sunshine and “The Great American Race.”
Stewart, owner of Stewart’s RV Center, was the winner of the “Daytona 500 Experience” Grand Prize courtesy of Thetford Corporation and Norcold, Inc. He was selected at random from the many Dealer, Distributor and RV Manufacturer entrees at Thetford and Norcold’s RVIA Show booth in Louisville, Kentucky earlier this month.
The Daytona 500 Experience includes airfare, deluxe three-day/two-night accommodations at the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary Hotel, Tower tickets to the Feb. 26 race and a three-day rental car or $150 transfer allowance.
Gift cards also were awarded to five other Thetford and Norcold booth contest entrees. Gary Polette, President of Buff’s RV in Festus, Missouri and Craig Miller, Parts Manager of Basden’s American RV Center in Evansville, Indiana each won $100 gift cards.
Three others won $50 gift cards: Joie Chitwood, Parts Manager of Skaggs RV in Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Richard A. Starr, Owner of Starr’s Trailer Sales in Brockway, Pennsylvania; and Jason Merlo, Parts Manager of General RV in Huntley, Illinois.
“We’re always pleased to see so many of our friends and business partners at RVIA,” Thetgord VP of Sales and Marketing Barry Eckel says. “These prizes are our way of saying ‘thank you’ to an industry that has been so good to us for more than 50 years.”
Even if they weren’t awarded prizes, everyone visiting the booth was a winner – learning about new Thetford and Norcold products and point-of-sale displays slated for 2017, along with those products that enjoyed industry-leading success in the 2016 Trailer Life and MotorHome Reader’s Choice Award contests.
