RV News Exclusive: Progress Mfg. Introduces Three New Products

Thu Dec 8, 2016

148120963896322.gifThe Readers’ Choice Awards have recognized the best hitches in the industry for the last five years as part of their gold, silver and bronze awards.

Progress Manufacturing’s Equal-i-zer hitches have won the gold award all five years.

This year, the Provo, Utah-based company submitted the new E2 10k hitch for nomination. In its first year that it was considered, it won a bronze award.

Progress Manufacturing’s Marketing Manager Lori Gilson says the company has been thrilled with the support from dealers, customers and the industry as a whole.

“Out of thousands of hitches, our hitch is the only one that has ever received that award,” Gilson says. “We’ve won it every year. It’s been wonderful and we are so grateful to the dealers for their support and for recommending those products. We’re thrilled with the partnership we have with them.”

Progress Manufacturing, which owns the brands for both the Equal-i-zer Hitch and Fastway Trailer Products isn’t content to rest on its laurels. Instead, the company introduced a few new products at the RVIA National Trade Show in Louisville, Kentucky that is based on customer demand and already has seen the interest and excitement from the new offerings.

The 10K Equal-i-zer Hitch will soon come with the ball preinstalled, something that Gilson says the dealers have been asking about for a long time.

“Previously, we sold the hitches without a ball and the dealers would install them,” Gilson says. “We have had requests for quite some time if we would offer them with a ball previously installed. So at the request of dealers, we’re going to be offering them with the ball. We have extremely pleased on the number of pre-orders on those as well.”

The 10K hitch with the ball preinstalled has a 1,000-pound maximum tongue weight, along with a 10,000-pound maximum trailer weight.

Fastway will soon be releasing the brand new Flash E Series HD ball mount, which will be the heaviest-rated ball mount on the market, rated at 18,000 pounds of maximum trailer weight.

The hitch is made of aircraft-grade aluminum, has a 2 ½-inch receiver and a tongue weight of 1,800 pounds. It will be available in 6-, 8- and 10-inch drops. Gilson says the interest from current and prospective dealers has been astounding.

“No one has anything rated nearly that high,” Gilson says. “There’s been a ton of interest from dealers and we are building those as we speak. They will become available as soon as next week. We did a pre-launch on that and we allowed dealers to preorder them and we’re extremely excited about the interest we’ve received in them.

“The dealers are saying they can’t believe how light it is. It looks really beefy, but they were surprised at how lightweight it was to tow that amount of weight. The other response was having that strong of a weight rating was really important. And having something to fit a 2 ½-inch receiver without a sleeve.”

Finally, Fastway also will be coming out with the e2 Trunnion Hitch with the ball preinstalled. The Trunnion Hitch is designed to eliminate backing and turning restrictions and utilizes sway control rigid brackets instead of the old “add-on” sway bars or cam-type attachments generally used with chain style hitches.

The Trunnion Hitch has a rating of 1,000 pounds on the tongue and a maximum trailer weight of 10,000 pounds.
