Marathon Coach Plans to Increase Production

Fri Dec 9, 2016

148129827244044.jpgCoburg, Oregon — Due to recent record sales in both new and pre-owned Marathon bus conversions, Marathon Coach President and Owner Steve Schoellhorn has announced a plan to increase production for the fifth consecutive year.

“I am pleased to report that 2016 was another successful year filled with substantial growth,” Schoellhorn says. “Through customer coach orders and special Show coaches, we built a terrific assortment of beautiful coaches with innovative features and creative designs. And while it is encouraging to be seeing a strong overall RV market, it is especially exciting to be having our coaches so well received.”

Marathon, a privately held company, will have delivered approximately 60 new and pre-owned coaches between their Oregon, Florida and Texas locations in 2016. Thanks to robust sales and a substantial customer order backlog, Marathon will further grow new coach production and staff in 2017. With production of more than 20 new coaches, the luxury bus converter plans on hiring between 50 and 60 people in 2017 due to increased production, employee retirements and normal attrition.

“We’re thrilled to have so many dedicated, skilled people on the Marathon team,” Schoellhorn says. “I’m looking forward to adding additional craftspeople as we continue to move forward.”

With the current low inventory situation and projected strong demand for luxury RVs over the next several years, Marathon Coach projects sustained growth in staffing of production, service and support positions.

Service centers at all three locations also have experienced increased revenues with ongoing demand for coach remodels, service and routine maintenance. Marathon forecasts overall 2017 revenue to exceed $65 million.
