RV News Exclusive: Fun Town Adds Ninth Location

Thu Jan 5, 2017

The new location is in Rockwall, Texas, a suburb on the northeastern side of Dallas, formerly the Happy Trails RV, which Fun Town bought in order to reach the market of the busy north side of Dallas, according to a press release.

"The new location, which will be called Fun Town RV Dallas is very similar to our recent Denton expansion," Fun Town RV CEO Jarrod McGhee says. "With traffic, it is easily a two or two-and-a-half hour drive from our flagship store in Cleburne. We feel like with our low prices and large selection of brands, we will make a big impact in this area."

The new dealership is located on the access road to Interstate 30, which has a traffic count of more than 26,000 vehicles per day that pas by. Even though Rockwall County is the smallest county in the state of Texas, it is one of the top five fastest growing countines in the United States.

"Fifteen thousand people a day are moving to Texas. And the majority of them are moving to the North Dallas area," McGhee says. "And Rockwall sits on the shore of Lake Ray Hubbard, which offers many outdoor recreational opportunities. We have other locations opening in 2017, but when this location became available, it was an easy decision to move this to the top and start serving this market immediately."

Fun Town will be spending $1.5 million to renovate and expand the existing facilities. The renovations should be completed by March and Fun Town RV Dallas will be open for business on April 1, according to Fun Town RV Marketing Direcdtor Matt Lee.

The majority of the staff of the former Happy Trails RV will make up the estimated 20 employees that Fun Town will start off with, Lee says.

J.J. Arnold, the current sales manager at the Denton location, has been named the new general manager of Fun Town RV Dallas.

In addition to the Dallas location, Fun Town RV has eight other locations, including its headquarters in Cleburne, Giddings, San Angelo, Waco, Houston, Denton and Bargain Corral, Texas and Purcell, Oklahoma.
