RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Leisure Systems, Inc. Hosts Training Week

MILFORD, Ohio - Leisure Systems, Inc.’s growing sales, profitability and brand power landed the Jellystone Park franchisor a spot in Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500 listing for the first time this year.

The 80-unit Jellystone Park franchise network generated more than $106 million in sales last year with 42 percent of Jellystone Parks scoring double digit gains in revenue.

A strong foundation for success begins with extensive training the Milford, Ohio-based company provides for Jellystone Park owners and employees each January. Leisure Systems’ Certification and Management Training Program (C.A.M.P.) is scheduled for this week, Jan. 23-27, at the Embassy Suites River Center in Covington, Kentucky.

“I think they try to be very comprehensive in their training,” says Nancy Felber, co-owner of the Jellystone Park in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, who joined the network of Yogi Bear themed parks in 2014 with her husband, Richard. “We found C.A.M.P. to be extremely valuable.”

This year’s C.A.M.P. training sessions will delve into the details of everything from how to develop and implement multiyear business plans to pricing strategies and social media marketing.

Park operators will also learn how to improve their camp store merchandising, how to buy Yogi Bear branded products, as well as the latest trends involving camp store sales. Yogi Bear branded merchandise also had a record year in 2016 with sales topping 1.75 million.

Other sessions will focus on guest service and strategies to turn negative guest experiences into positive outcomes.

Attendees will learn how to develop and manage recreation programs and discuss best practices for finding and hiring college interns.

Several sessions will also delve into the details of federal employment laws and labor regulations involving everything from the types of questions that can be asked during the hiring process to procedures for handling termination and allegations of sexual harassment.

Sessions will also discuss team building and communication techniques as well as the mentoring and coaching of employees.

Other sessions will cover risk management and the latest developments involving the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it applies to campgrounds.

C.A.M.P. attendees will also have multiple opportunities to network with new park operators as well as park operators who have many years of experience.
