RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Cummins and Eaton Corp. Forming $1.2B Joint Venture

145322220422564.jpgColumbus, Indiana-based Cummins Inc. and Dublin, Ireland-based Eaton Corp. Plc plan to form a $1.2 billion joint venture focused on automated transmissions for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, the companies announced Monday.

Under the terms of the agreement, Cummins will pay Eaton $600 million cash and both companies will have a 50 percent interest in the joint venture, according to a story by the Indianapolis Business Journal.

Representatives of both Cummins and Eaton said the venture will have no effect on either company’s Indiana employees or production. Cummins has 9,500 employees in Indiana, with most based in Columbus.
