RV News Exclusive: Sportsmobile Introduces New Metris Terra Camper

Thu Apr 20, 2017

149269926294580.jpgSportsmobile has introduced the new Mercedes Sprinter Metris Terra Camper to the RV market.

The Metris Terra Camper is a van camper, with an overhead tent equipped to the roof that will allow campers and travelers the opportunity to enjoy camping in their van.

In addition to the tent structure, the van also has a pull-out sink, stove, refrigerator and bed that will sleep four, according to Sportsmobile President Jonathan Feld.

The product was introduced as a partnership between Sportsmobile and a Mercedes Benz based manufacturer in Germany.

“These have been in the states for six months,” Feld says. “We had ideas to work on this kind of small van camper ever since we heard about them. We liked the design and decided to team up.”

Besides the chance to manufacture a camper van that has a lot of people excited, Feld says it was also an opportunity to get into a new market for the company based in Fresno, California.

The response that the Mercedes Sprinter Metris Terra Campers have gotten from consumers so far has been very positive, Feld says.

“There’s been a lot of buzz around the product,” he says. “It’s a four-wheel camper that comes in a small package. When the first Sprinter was introduced, it wasn’t super popular while people got used to the idea. Now, the idea has just been going crazy. I imagine that it takes time for people to get on board.”

Sportsmobile has released a video detailing the features of the new van camper to the RV market. To watch the video, click on the link below, which will take you to the RV News Video Library.
