Fort Myers, Florida - Universal Trailer Corporation has announced that its board of directors has named Gary DiCamillo Chief Executive Officer of the company, effective June 5. DiCamillo succeeds Terry Carlson, who has served as Chief Executive Officer since 2011 and has accepted a position as Chief Executive Officer of a consumer products company based in the northeastern United States.
DiCamillo, Managing Partner of Eaglepoint Advisors, was engaged in 2010 to assist UTC in its successful operational and financial turnaround. He joined the board of directors in 2011 after the conclusion of that assignment. Gary DiCamillo’s previous positions include President and CEO of what is now Advantage Resourcing, a $1.6 billion group of staffing companies, Chairman and CEO of Polaroid Corporation and President of Worldwide Power Tools and Accessories at Black & Decker Corporation.
DiCamillo began his career at Procter & Gamble Co. in brand management in 1975, followed by several years as a manager at McKinsey and Co. DiCamillo is a board member of Whirlpool Corporation, Pella Corporation, Sheridan Group and Global Partner Acquisition Corp (GPAC). He is a Trustee of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Babson College and the Museum of Science (Boston). DiCamillo holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
“This is the perfect time for Gary to step in as UTC’s next Chief Executive Officer,” Universal Trailer Chairman Ali Wambold says. "As UTC takes the next step to transform the trailer industry, his management experience and vision make him an ideal fit. He is a tremendous leader and I am sure that he will be able to unharness the vast potential of our business.
"Terry Carlson joined UTC in 2011 as the company was recovering from the worst effects of the 2008-09 downturn in the U.S. economy. He made considerable strides in developing the management team, integrating disparate operations and positioning the company for future growth and profitability. Under his leadership, UTC has broadly restructured and streamlined its business, launched many new products and invested in state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities with the launch of its new plant in Bristol, Indiana. We wish him well in his new position.”
“I want to thank Universal Trailer, its board of directors and Corporate Partners for the wonderful opportunity to contribute to this great company," Carlson says. "UTC, with its industry-leading brands and unrivaled dealer network, provides quality, American-made products to trailer owners throughout the nation. The company has significant growth plans and a great team in place to carry on its successes for years to come.”
