RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Former RVDA Chairman of the Board Passes Away June 9

149736882078314.jpgServices will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 15, at the First Baptist Church of Norman, Oklahoma, for former RVDA Chairman of the Board Rex Floyd who died Friday, June 9.

Floyd founded Floyd’s Recreational Vehicles in 1969, operating from a small rented lot. The company soon outgrew that space and built a larger dealership on Interstate 35, where it remains today.

Floyd was inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame in 2010. For his outstanding contributions to RVDA he received the association’s highest honor, the James B. Summers Award, in 1988. He was the first active dealer to receive the award.

“Rex Floyd was one of the most visionary dealers in RVDA when I joined the staff in 1988,” Former RVDA President Mike Molino says. "He was hungry for knowledge and an early adopter of new ideas. He also helped mentor me as I tried to learn the industry. May he Rest in Peace.”

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen (Jones) Floyd, of Norman; daughters Debbie Spearing of Norman and Carol Behrens and Doug of San Antonio, Texas; three sons, Michael Floyd of Colorado, Kenneth Floyd and Valerie of Yukon and Robert Floyd and Tina of Newcastle; sister, Carolyn Walker and Wayne of Hot Springs, Arkansas., two brothers, Glenn Floyd and Judy of Norman and Dr. Koy Floyd and Kay of Norman; sister-in-law, Juanita Ratliff of Norman and 14 grandchildren.
