RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

RV Entrepreneur and Father of Former RVDA Board Member Passes at 98

150186941076479.jpgGeorge Gerald (Jerry) FitzGerald, the former owner of Venture Out RV and father of former RVDA board member Lee FitzGerald, passed away on Monday, July 31, one month shy of his 99th birthday.

FitzGerald was born Sept. 23, 1918 in Santa Cruz California, a sixth generation California native. He served in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps during World War II and rose to the rank of major while serving in the Hawaiian Islands.

He and his wife Millie were parents of three sons: Peter; Lee (George Kohn); and Bruce (Kathy); and grandchildren: Ryan (Mara), Kailyn, Colleen and Joshua.

The RV industry was introduced to FitzGerald in 1975 when he and his family bought Venture Out RV. Lee FitzGerald eventually took over the business and became an RVDA volunteer leader and served as a regional director, then an officer on the RVDA Board of Directors.

A Celebration of Jerry FitzGerald's life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Forum at Rancho San Antonio in Cupertino. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Cupertino Rotary Endowment Fund, PO Box 1101, Cupertino, CA 95015.
