150272508164583.jpgRICHMOND, Va. - General RV Center, the largest family-owned RV retailer in the nation, has announced it has opened a new location near Richmond, Virginia.

The dealership is located at 12195 Harley Club Drive in Ashland, just off I-95. The 32,000-square foot facility, which General RV purchased, sits on five acres. It features 26 service bays and will have 200 RVs on the lot. It is a full-service dealership that provides RV sales, service, parts and financing. It carries top RV brands from Prime Time, Grand Design, Keystone, Coachmen, Thor, Tiffin, Fleetwood and Holiday Rambler.

In the coming months, General RV will begin building a brand new dealership on 40 acres adjacent to the current dealership. This $20 million project will be completed in Fall 2018, and the 85,000-square-foot General RV Mid-Atlantic Supercenter will feature more than 400 RVs and 40 service bays.

The dealership is led by General Manager Ed McNamara, an industry veteran with 40 years of experience, most recently as President of McGeorge RV in Richmond.

“We’re excited to enter the thriving Mid-Atlantic RV market with an excellent local management team, top product lines and a great location along I-95,” General RV President Loren Baidas says. "Expanding our footprint to the Mid-Atlantic will allow us to serve our existing customers better and welcome many new customers into the General RV family.”

With the addition of the Richmond location, General RV Center now has 12 dealerships in six states. The company was founded in 1962 and is now in its third generation of family ownership. It has 1,300 employees and was recently named the sixth fastest growing company in Michigan by Crain’s Detroit Business.

“General RV’s focus on treating customers like family is the same way my management team and I have always done business, so it’s a perfect fit,” McNamara says. "We expect to have an immediate impact in the Mid-Atlantic region, and when our supercenter is complete next year we’ll become an RV hub for the entire East Coast.”
