Wed Aug 16, 2017

MOUNT VERNON, Mo. - Union workers at a manufacturing plant are on strike after they couldn't reach an agreement on a new contract with the company. The strike at Reyco Granning Suspensions involves 100 to 120 employees.

Teamsters Union Local 245, based in Springfield, represents the employees, who went on strike on Monday night. Reyco Granning makes front end suspensions for ambulances and recreational vehicles. Its plant is behind the TA truck stop on the northeast corner of Interstate 44 at Missouri 39.

An employee told KSPR 33 that the pay scale now tops out at between $17 to $18 an hour but the employees are looking at an upcoming jump of 30 percent or more in cost of their insurance benefits. He said the contract negotiations have been going on for the better part of a month. He said employees voted down two offers and voted Monday night to strike.

The employee said about 10 people are on the picket line at a time, and said workers are picketing in shifts.
