Wed Aug 23, 2017

ELKHART, Ind. – Two local business leaders are stepping up to assist the Elkhart Police Department with needed equipment.

Thomas Jellison, CEO of Elkhart-based Flexco Products Inc., recently purchased a Case IH Scout utility vehicle and an aerial drone for the department. The drone is equipped with a high definition camera and thermal imaging. Both items will be beneficial to the police department during special events, training and investigations, according to a story by The Elkhart Truth.

Jack Smith, CEO of Gaska Tape Inc., has also assisted the department with its transition to new handguns. The department is in the process of switching over to a new make and model handgun.

Smith provided all of the funding needed to make up the difference between the cost of the new handgun and the trade-in value of the old handguns. Smith also purchased new holsters and magazine pouches for each of the department’s 133 sworn officers.
