RVDA has signed on to comments from the Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity (PPWO) regarding the Department of Labor’s “Request for Information” on proposed changes to federal overtime regulations, initially announced by the agency in 2016.
The PPWO’s members believe that employees and employers alike are best served with a system that promotes maximum flexibility in structuring employee hours, career advancement opportunities for employees, and clarity for employers when classifying employees. The comments point out that the 2016 rule would create significant additional costs and disruptions in operations for many businesses. PPWO believes a review of the rule is appropriate and consistent with efforts to lower unnecessary regulatory burdens.
Earlier this year, a U.S. District court judge ruled that the overtime regulation is invalid, which blocked the Department of Labor from implementing the rule which was intended to take effect on Dec. 1, 2016.
