RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Chinook Motor Coach Opens New RV Plant in Elkhart

Chinook Motor Coach has opened its RV plant located at 29449 US Highway 33 West in Elkhart, Indiana to its dealers. After Chinook Motor Coach’s acquisition of the old Cardinal plant, the plant has been redesigned, refurbished and enhanced to a revamped modern facility that is now open to dealers.

Units are available to test drive that are outfitted with world leading suspension enhancements and other features on the vehicles. The company has produced a First Class product with safety features that are designed to provide a superior ride and will offer anti roll over safety system.

Displays of raw Ford cut away cab and chassis, Ford Transit Vans, Mercedes Sprinter Vans and some completed Country Side Vans are available to view.

President and CEO Phil Rizzio, COO David Murray and General Manager Plant Production Jeff Butler are all excited to invite Chinook’s RV dealers to part of this revolution, according to a press release.

The new facility in Elkhart is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
