RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Camping World Acquires Another Specialty Outdoor Retailer

145434773794726.pngLINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. – Camping World Holdings, Inc. has announced plans to purchase Uncle Dan’s Outfitters, a specialty retailer of outdoor gear, apparel and camping supplies.

The acquisition will expand and strengthen the company’s efforts in the broader outdoor lifestyle market. Over the past six months, Camping World Holdings has acquired certain assets of Gander Mountain, a leading retailer of hunting, fishing, camping and outdoor gear; Overton’s, a leading retailer of boating and marine accessories; and TheHouse.com, an online retailer specializing in bikes, sailboards, skateboards, wakeboards, snowboards and outdoor gear. The combination of these retailers and their e-commerce platforms provides CWH with a strong foundation in the outdoor lifestyle market from which to continue and build upon, according to a company press release.

“Under the leadership of Brent Weiss and family for over 45 years, Uncle Dan’s Outfitters strengthens Camping World Holding’s efforts to build a seamless approach to the outdoor lifestyle market and further positions the company to expand the reach and product offerings of our e-commerce business,” Camping World Chairman Marcus Lemonis says. “The management team not only possess strong knowledge of the outdoor outfitter market but also has a keen eye for the development and invention of new product offerings.”

The acquisition of Uncle Dan’s Outfitters is further evidence of CWH’s commitment to an omni-channel approach to penetrating the outdoor lifestyle market, according to the press release. Uncle Dan’s Outfitters will position the company for further growth to its expanding e-commerce platform at udans.com, by increasing customer reach and adding new quality product offerings. Uncle Dan’s Outfitters will also serve as the official supplier of outdoor gear, apparel and camping supplies to the company’s rebranded Gander Outdoors retail stores across the country.

Over the last year, Camping World has acquired more than 15 RV dealerships across the country, five RV shows and the aforementioned outdoor and recreation companies, further expanding its reach to the RV and outdoor recreation enthusiast.
