RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Flexsteel Recreation Pulls Up the Lift-and-Lock Sofa Bunk

151189908312406.jpgDUBUQUE, Iowa—Flexsteel Recreation, a business unit of Flexsteel Industries Inc. (NASDAQ: FLXS), announced the Lift-and-Lock Sofa Bunk for motorhomes and fifth wheels, which it is dsiplaying at this year's RVIA National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Kentucky.


According to a company statement, Flexsteel has always had a focus on innovation. Since entering the RV marketplace more than 50 years ago, Flexsteel has maintained a focus on innovation in an effort to provide customers with premium comfort on the open road.

"Our focus on innovation really started with the integration of the Blue Steel Spring," says Spencer Hill, product manager for Flexsteel Recreation, "and it hasn't stopped since."
Lift-and-Lock Sofa Bunk
The Lift-and-Lock Sofa Bunk converts into a bunk bed by lifting the top section and locking it into place. The space-saving design sits flush to the wall and turns unused vertical space into a bed with another sleeping are below meaning no additional floor space is needed.

"This is really something unique to the marketplace and an area where we want to respond to our customer's needs," says Rick Stanley, vice president of Flexsteel Contract.

"We engineer for solutions and safety. We want to provide something our customers can be proud of. For a lot of people, RVs are a getaway, a way to unplug and reset, and we want to do our part to make that experience a great one," says Hill.

The Lift-and-Lock Sofa Bunk is slated for full release in January 2018.
