Forest River is recalling certain 2018 Surveyor trailers, because they feature a circuit breaker that allows more current that the wiring can handle. The incorrect circuit breaker can cause the wiring to melt, increasing the risk of a fire, according to a posting at National Highway Safety Administration site, safercar.gov.
The issue, which potentially impacts 152 units, was discovered during a routine quality control audit in December, according to the safety recall report.
The models being recalled include SVT266RLDS, SVT285IKDS, SVT285IKLE, SVT323BHLE, SVT33KRETS, SVT33KRLOK and SVT33KRLTS.
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a circuit breaker with the correct load rating at no charge. The recall is expected to begin Feb. 28.
Owners can contact Forest River customer service at 574-642-3119, ext. 205 and reference recall No. 37-0604. Owners also can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY: 800-424-9153) or go to safercar.gov.
