EIA Report Suggests Higher Gas Prices in 2018
A report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) suggests that consumer gas prices will rise in 2018, according to an agency press release. The national gas price average for the week ending Jan. 19 was only up a penny over the previous week, but gas prices were up five cents between Jan. 1, 2017 and Jan. 1, 2018.
California, which was up 39 cents, led the nation in increases, followed by Indiana (up 37 cents), Michigan (up 32 cents), and Alaska (up 30 cents), with Oregon, Hawaii, Montana, Ohio, Illinois, and Tennessee all being up 25 to 28 cents since the start of 2017, the release states.
“For consumers, the question is how high gas prices are going to go in 2018,” says Jeanette Casselano, a spokesperson for the American Automobile Association.
