RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

RVT.com Visitors up 15 Percent in January

151813134988216.pngRVT.com, a leading Internet marketplace for new and used RVs for sale in North American, reports that its RV shopper traffic increased 25 percent in January, compared with January 2017, and that RV buyer leads—which are sent to RV sellers—were up 16 percent.

The RVT website had 1.6 million total visits in January from RV shoppers in the U.S. and Canada, according to the company. Unique RV consumer visitors totaled 787,000, up 15 percent over last year.

"2017 was a record year for the RV industry and 2018 is projected to be even better," says Shawn Friesen, vice president of RVT.com. "Millennials and baby boomers are driving this growth, plus we are seeing far more RV consumer buyers shopping RVT.com because of our aggressive search engine optimization, far-reaching social media marketing, mobile-friendly format and more powerful, yet simplified RV shopping experience."

According to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), RV shipments were up 17.2 percent in 2017, with travel trailers accounting for 73 percent of towable RV units sold. Travel trailers are the top RV category searched on RVT.com, followed by type A diesel motorhomes and smaller type C motorhomes.

Friesen said that the site saw the most significant RV search traffic increases in the type B and C categories, with searches up 18 percent and 17 percent, respectively, last month.
