The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.
Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

TH2, Thor Industries' recent joint venture with Tourism Holdings Ltd., has announced it plans to buy Cincinnati startup Roadtrippers, the affiliated company Roadtrippers Australasia and Mighway, a New Zealand-based peer-to-peer RV rental firm that also has U.S. operations and two digital assets.
According to Bizwomen Business Journal, a publication of the Cincinnati Business Courier, Roadtrippers has developed a road-trip planning app that helps users include interesting places to visit and things to do as part of those trips. Roadtrippers has topped 1.3 million users within two years. The purchase price hasn't been made public but the acquisition is expected to be complete by March 1.
Mighway specializes in renting RVs not in use by current private owners in New Zealand and the U.S., with additional amenities including insurance, 24/7 roadside services, and itinerary planning assistance. Further details on purchase price and timing were not available.
TH2 also is buying some digital assets.The first is CamperMate, a travel app that solicits information from users about little-known locations, as well as private hosting spots, in New Zealand and Australia and makes them available to all subscribers. The second is Cosmos, a digital platform that handles RV product pricing, fleet management, customer relationships, and booking and rentals.
