RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Thor Closes on TH2 Deal

151925313685764.pngThor Industries, Inc. (NYSE:THO), today announced it has closed on its 50/50 joint venture with Tourism Holdings, Ltd. (thl), TH2. The digital connectivity and sharing platform for RV owners was announced on Feb. 15.

“TH2 will be focused on significantly enhancing the enjoyment and safety of RV enthusiasts by digitally connecting this fast-growing international marketplace,” states a press release from Thor, based in Elkhart, Indiana. “This innovative and comprehensive platform will improve every aspect of RV ownership, with capabilities that include trip planning and booking, remote systems monitoring, roadside assistance, and peer-to-peer RV and campsite rental. The system will also streamline an owner’s record keeping and enable dealers and manufacturers to provide such support as triggered service notifications, online vehicle manuals and more.”

The release states manufacturers, RV dealers and rental operators who utilize TH2’s services and products will see increased efficiencies in product pricing, service engagement and fleet management. Previously TH2 officials have said the platform would be largely open to any RV manufacturer and owner, though there could be platform costs for such amenities as fleet management.
