RVIA Economic Impact Study

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.

Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Elkhart Area Officials Speak Out About Steel, Aluminum Tariff Effects

152061253577517.pngElkhart, Indiana officials spoke out about the possible effects the steel and aluminum tariffs will have on RV manufacturers in Elkhart County in an article on the WSBT 22 website.

The tariffs, 25 percent on steel imports and 10 percent on aluminum imports, were announced by President Donald Trump on Thursday.

"Our economy is booming and we'd kind of like to keep it that way," says Levon Johnson, Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce president.

"Every business has to have their own response. Again, if you're just looking at basic economics, then, yeah, the cost of an RV or a steel building is going to go up because it's costing more now to produce those goods."
