Mike Braun, president and CEO of Meyer Distributing, will replace Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), co-chairman of the U.S. Senate RV Caucus, as Indiana’s senator. Braun tallied more than 1.1 million votes, or 51.7 percent of the vote to win. Donnelly received just over 945,000 votes, or 44.4 percent of the vote. A third-party candidate got the nod from nearly 4 percent of the electorate.
Meyer Distributing says Braun ran a six-day-a-week campaign for more than 14 months to unseat Donnelley, the incumbent. Donnelly has been a leader in the Congressional RV caucus and recently introduced legislation to modify the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide that floor plan financing includes the financing of certain trailers and campers.
