The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association commissioned an Economic Impact Study on the RV industry, released on June 7, 2016. The study found that the RV industry contributes about $49.7 billion in economic output or 0.28 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Through its production and distribution linkages, the industry impacts firms in 426 of the 440 sectors of the United States economy.
Nationwide, the industry is responsible for 216,170 jobs, both directly and inderectly, creating an economic impact of $37.5 billion. The full study results, along with each individual state and congressional district's economic impact is available on the website by clicking here .

Integrated Dealer Systems (IDS), a producer of the dealer management software application Astra G2, announces the next upgrade will contain monthly Repair Event Cycle Time (RECT) reports designed to help dealers pinpoint and solve the biggest repair bottlenecks within their shop.
Using these reports, dealers can compare their RECT data to that of other dealers across North America in order to:
• See where they stand in relation to their industry partners
• Understand the impact of parts availability and warranty coverage on their repair time
• Drill down to specifics, including individual work orders, part numbers and labor hours
• Review historical data via numerous charts and graphs to spot trends and aide forecasting
All data is collected in an anonymous and aggregate format, and IDS does not share identifiable dealer information with anyone.
The upgrade will be available to existing Astra G2 customers in Q1, 2019, following conclusion of a pilot project.
IDS has worked closely with the RVDA and RVIA to develop the RECT reports. To acknowledge IDS’ contribution to the industry, Sean Raynor, general manager of IDS, was honored with a Chairman’s Service Award during the 2018 RVDA Convention/Expo held in Las Vegas in November.
Early adopters already have plenty of good things to say about the product.
“What I like the most about these new IDS RECT reports is that we now have the data to see exactly where our bottlenecks are with long repair cycle times,” says Tim Wegge, owner of Burlington RV Superstore and former RVDA chairman. “The data shows how RECT is affected by warranty coverage versus customer pay and whether parts are needed through a vendor or a manufacturer. This gives us the opportunity to manage our service departments in ways we never could before and share our data with our industry partners to help them identify the areas where they need improvement.”
Brian Wilkins, President of Wilkins RV and former RVDA chairman, echoed Wegge’s opinion, calling the IDS RECT reports “a great tool for providing owners and managers with the information they need to improve their departments and RECT management.”
“It is something the industry desperately needed,” Wilkins says. “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.”
“I think it’s an essential addition to every dealer’s toolbox, especially in today’s data-driven world,” Raynor says.
