The move by Thor will enhance the experience for vendors at the Open House as well as year-round visitors to the Elkhart facility, Hall of Fame President Darryl Searer says.

"It's going to be something first class and will really give a professional appearance to that entire area around the hall of fame." Searer says.

The pavilion will be heated and air conditioned and include a moveable stage and multiple bathrooms. It will seat 1,200 people and replace a large tent Thor usually erects during the Open House, Searer says. "In past years, Thor would always erect a tent, bring in generators to power all of their units. Now there will be electric pedestals where the units will be parked and they won't have to bring in big diesel generators," he says.

The Hall of Fame will be able to use the pavilion for 50 weeks out of the year. "It will be good to have something permanent. And we can use it for any events we want to hold there," he says.

The blacktop will include extensive lighting as well as a greenery that will enhance the look of the area around the Hall, Searer says.

"It certainly solves the parking problem at our facility. It really is win-win for everyone. For the Hall of Fame, for Thor and for the community," he says.

The Elkhart Open House usually draws 4,000 dealer representatives.
