REV Recreation Group displayed the new Freedom Bridge chassis during its annual dealer event this week at the company headquarters in Decatur, Ind.
Fleetwood RV and Freightliner Custom Chassis teamed up to create the structure. It pairs Freightliner’s modular XCM chassis with a re-engineered version of Fleetwood’s bridge foundation.
Sales Manager for Fleetwood’s Type A Diesel division, Doug Miller says it combines the strength and storage capacity of Fleetwood’s exclusive modular design with the performance of a Freightliner chassis.
“We’re excited to begin bringing it to market right away,” he says.
The new chassis features include a V-Ride rear suspension system, OptiView LED instrument cluster and the new DriveTech steering system with column-mounted controls. It also has I-beam construction, which has a higher torsion rating for durability and slide rail placement that allows for more pass-through storage.
The chassis boasts double-thick flooring for increased strength, more durability and minimized sound. It has dual-side fuel fills providing access to the 100-gallon tank from either side of the RV and waste-water tanks designed to drain better.
The Freedom Bridge XCM foundation can be found on Fleetwood’s Discovery LXE, Discovery and Pace Arrow LXE models.
“Freedom Bridge seamlessly blends high-tech components with a stronger, lighter frame for superior strength, capacity and performance,” Freightliner RV product manager Jeremy Buckmeier says, “which is why we’ve already seen great interest and excitement among Fleetwood’s dealer partners about this product.”
