Three-Step Charging

3 three-step converter/ charger. Available in 45-, 55- and 75 amp outputs, the
Ultra 3 is controlled by a microprocessor which operates three-step charging either
automatically or manually via a remote control that plugs into the unit. The remote
control allows the user to customize the converter output for whatever the usage
situation.
The three stages are:
Normal mode: Preset at 13.6 VDC, this stage
automatically changes to quick charge when the battery voltage is low. The LED indicator
on the remote control flashes every second when the battery is at a charge of 50% or
greater.
Quick charge: In this mode, Ultra 3 is set at 14.4
VDC in order to bring the battery to a fully charged state. The remote control's LED
flashes 6 to 8 times per second during the mode. Ultra 3 returns to normal mode
automatically once the battery is fully charged.
Storage mode: This mode is used during long term
RV storage. The battery is maintained at a 13.2 VDC voltage, and every 20 hours the quick
charge mode will operate for 15 minutes to prevent sulfating of the battery.
Ultra 3 features rugged steel construction and safeguards
such as automatic step retraction during overcurrent and ignition "on"
conditions. It carries FCC Class B certification, proving it will not create signal
interference with radios, TVs, and other communication devices.

New Gen-Set Gives
Owners the Silent Treatment
Regardless of soundproofing or engine
size, most generators still produce their share of noise. A new diesel gen-set, the
Loadstar Super Silent 6000, solves this problem by reducing distracting sound even under
full load.
One of the secrets to the gen-set's quiet operation is a
full enclosure that limits escaping engine and alternator noise. Both components are
directly coupled and mounted to a welded steel frame using elastic supports, further
reducing vibration and noise. Separate screened inlets allow fresh air to enter both the
engine and alternator compartments. Well-attenuated exhaust gases exit via a recessed pipe
located under the enclosure. The unit is fully portable with a wheel assembly, and to
permit easy balanced lifting, an eye is located on the top of the enclosure.
Weighing 453 lbs and measuring 40.16" long x
35.4" wide x 30.79" high, this diesel gen-set is rated for 6kw maximum and 5.5kw
continuous output at both 120 and 240 volts AC. Its Yanmar engine runs at 3,600 rpm. With
a single filling of its 6.06-gallon fuel tank, the gen-set can run approximately 12 hours
at full load. The control panel includes volt, amp and frequency meters. The unit will
provide full output at either 120 or 240 volts, or a combination of the two voltages.
Thanks to its direct fuel injection and advanced
engineering, the engine meets the toughest environmental standards, and since the gen-set
has no electrical ignition or carburetors, tune-ups are a thing of the past. The suggested
retail price of the Loadstar S/S 6000 is $3,993.

Ultra-Compact Gensets
Are Ideal For RVs
Next Generation Power Engineering has
introduced its ultra compact, 3.5kw and 5.5kw diesel gen-sets.
The single-cylinder, 7 hp UCMI-3.5 is the lowest profile
diesel gen-set on the market, measuring just 28" long x 15-1/2" wide x 17"
high. And it weighs only 160 lbs. The 2-cylinder, 10 hp UCM2-5.5 is 23" long x
20" wide x 21" high, and weighs 230 lbs.
Both models are powered by Kubota engines that run at a
comfortable 2,800 rpm, which helps ensure long life and quiet operation. They incorporate
Goodyear synchronous drives to provide reliable 60 Hz AC power.
The units are water-cooled, and include 12-volt starting
systems and have an output of 120 or 240 volts AC. The UCM2-5.5 supplies enough power to
operate two a/c units and other appliances at the same time.
The retail price of the UCM1-3.5 is $3,295, and the
UCM2-5.5 costs $4,695.
