| COVER STORY Superior Products,
Outstanding Performance
For the past 19 years Valterra Products,
Inc. has been manufacturing and marketing products designed to make recreation easy for
the RV consumer. And while the company offers a diversified line of nearly 400 products,
most of their product is focused on RV plumbing and sanitation. Valterra is a company that
is respected not only for their products but also by the way it does business.

So at this past year's WDA Executive Conference in
Phoenix, AZ, the only people who were surprised that Valterra was named that association's
Supplier of the Year were the company's founders, George Grengs, and Dennis Lunder.
Lunder said, "We had no clue that we would win
Supplier of the Year. It's a good feeling when you get the kind of feedback that tells you
customers like you and want to do business with you."
Valterra is a company focused on customer service and
it's a philosophy that works at all levels of business. "Like George always
says," Lunder continued, "'We're the Nordstrom's of the RV industry.' We take
care of people's problems, so no one goes away upset with us."
The WDA award is only the latest recognition; for the
last two years in a row Valterra also won the Georgia Peach award, which is presented by
warehouse distributor Stag Parkway for outstanding performance by a supplier.

Grengs |
RV News recently visited Valterra at the corporate
headquarters in Mission Hills, CA, and talked to founders, Lunder and Grengs.
Valterra was born in 1981 as the RV industry was
experiencing a deep recession following the oil crisis of 1979 when the entire industry
was hanging by a thread. George's parents owned Grentec, a company that made and sold
waste valves to the RV industry and also manufactured and sold skateboards and skateboard
parts.
Lunder was a former Los Angeles police captain and
Grengs, after college, worked as a stockbroker, but returned to the family business when
the sales manager developed health problems.
George said, "My dad needed help selling skateboards
so I came back and learned that whole 'selling-to-chain-stores' routine, which was a great
way to learn sales because it was a very tough business. continued
