Dometic Group’s board of directors and CEO Fredrik Moller recently announced their decision to relocate the company's Americas headquarters from Elkhart, Ind., to Louisville, Ky.

“Exact timing is still being finalized, but we do expect some key executives will relocate at the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2010, and other positions will be phased in over the next 24 months,” said Doug Whyte, president of Dometic Americas.

The Louisville office’s executive positions will not solely consist of transfers from Elkhart, but a combination of existing and newly created roles from Dometic facilities in Elkhart and LaGrange, Ind.; Richmond, Va.; Pompano, Fla.; and Big Prairie, Ohio. Up to 90 positions will eventually be located at the new headquarters.

Whyte pointed to Dometic’s recent move of large manufacturing operations to the Elkhart area as evidence of the company’s dedication to the RV industry. “We’re proud of our commitment to the Elkhart area with our strong manufacturing presence, and it is our plan to continue to grow that business, thereby creating more job opportunities in our manufacturing operations,” he stated. The company has created almost 400 new jobs in Elkhart and LaGrange, exceeding original estimates by more than 100 positions.

“Dometic is more than just a leading RV supplier. We are a world-class supplier of products that service the marine, automotive, medical, retail and lodging industries,” said Whyte. “As we continue to expand, we needed to find a location from which we could further grow these business units. We felt Louisville offered those attributes.”
