Arkansas to See New Outdoor Recreation Initiatives

Arkansas Gov. Hutchinson announced an initiative June 21 to focus more on the state’s outdoor recreation tourism effort, Arkansas Times reported.

By executive order, Hutchinson directed the creation of the Office of Outdoor Recreation in the state Departments of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. It will use existing positions and state funding to coordinate investments in and marketing outdoor activities.

A search will be conducted to fill the leadership of the office. Hutchinson said he will name an advisory board.
