Dealers’ Future Sentiment Sharply Lower

Higher inflation and lower retail registrations have not soured dealers’ sentiment on current conditions, the latest survey conducted by RVDA and Baird found.

However, dealers’ future outlook turned sharply lower in April.

The April Dealer Sentiment Index found dealers’ three- to five-year outlook plummeted to a 39 out of 100 (any number above 50 being positive).

The score fell 28% from the 54 registered in March. It is the first time, Baird research found, the three- to five-year outlook has been below 50 dating back to the survey’s initial research in July 2006.

The April current outlook rose a point from March to 57, the second consecutive month of improving sentiment in the current outlook.
