EXCLUSIVE: Dealers Benefit from Icon’s Creator Program and Winnebago Partnership

Icon Technologies Limited offers 900 SKUs of fender skirts. If one of the 900 will not meet a dealer’s needs, the company can create a custom part through its Creator Program.

Business Development Associate Mike Franz discussed the program with dealers at the NTP-Stag Expo in Florida.

“Icon’s mandate is to support dealers and to help them shine in front of their customers,” Franz said. “We know in the RV industry there are so many parts, makes and models of things. We want to support the dealers when they are having a hard time finding a specific product.”

The Creator Program applies to nearly all of the company’s products, including skylights, fender skirts, holding tanks and air conditioner shrouds. Franz said items such as corner caps can also be created.

“If it is a plastic component, the dealers can reach out to our customer service team and we can field that question,” Franz said. “Our customer service team does a whole bunch of digging to find information on that specific part. From there, we can let the dealer know if it is something we are able to create for them.”

Franz said dealers often ship damaged parts straight to Icon. The company can either find a suitable replacement in its stock or create one from scratch.

“We have had dealers chop up fender skirts into little bits and pieces and send it to us in a cereal box,” Franz said, “and we can recreate it for them for a fraction of the cost. Then we get to add it to our product library. That is one of the ways we have grown our fender skirt library over the years.”

Franz said the program has existed almost since the company’s founding in 1988. He said the program helped the company develop its large fender skirt and plastic product lineup.

As company leaders seek to expand Icon’s vast catalog, Icon completed a 100,000-square-foot expansion of its Winkler, Manitoba, production facility late last year.

“With the expansion, we shifted some things around at our facility to help the flow of products be more efficient through production and all the way to shipping,” Franz said. “We put up extra racking to create more warehouse space for our products and just created a better flow throughout the building.”

Winnebago Partnership

Franz said Icon can provide additional support to Winnebago dealers. The two companies have developed a partnership to support the manufacturer’s legacy parts.

“There are a whole bunch of Winnebago legacy units still on the road,” Franz said. “When something goes wrong for them, it is sometimes difficult to find the right part. We are helping dealers by keeping some of those parts on hand. We can also help in locating those legacy parts.”

In some cases, Franz said the company can build legacy Winnebago replacement parts through its Creator Program.
