Power Service’s Diesel Injector and DPF Flush is a new product from a company with a long history of developing diesel fuel additives.
Al Kramer mixed up the Power Service’s first diesel fuel supplement in 1956. Nearly 70 years later, the company manufactures a full line of diesel-related products in Weatherford, Texas.
Power Services Vice President of Sales Garth Redifer said he believes the Diesel Injector and DPF Flush could prove valuable on the shelves of an RV dealership’s parts store.
“We have a strong retail presence, but there is an opportunity for growth in areas such as RV-specific dealers,” Redifer said. “We have done business with some RV dealers. Like any industry, there has been a massive amount of consolidation among RV dealers. So, we are looking at some particular ways to penetrate that market. There is a process to that, and we are working through it.”
Redifer said Power Service’s product demand is high. He said many RVers driving motorhomes or heavy-duty trucks to pull large trailers have limited diesel engine experience. Diesel engines are commonly available in Type A motorhomes. Type B adventure vans’ growth in recent years has increased the number of diesel-engine RVs available to consumers.
“We find they need a lot of education because it might be the first diesel vehicle they have ever owned,” he said. “We get a lot of phone calls from people on RV trips who have driven from the Northeast to Florida and run into problems somewhere along the way.”
The Diesel Injector and DPF Flush is what Redifer called an immediate, in-tank solution for injector or DPF filter issues. He said injector or DPF filter problems can cause consumers significant, yet avoidable, downtime.
“It is a perfect product to have in two places at an RV dealership: on the retail shelves, but also in the service bay,” Redifer said. “If someone comes in with a rough-running engine that is because of an injector issue, or if they have a DPF alert, which is where this product can come in and be beneficial for those customers.”
Redifer said the Diesel Injector and DPF Flush serves as an emergency or immediate cleanup product for engines that might not have been properly maintained.
“We knew ease of use was going to be key,” Redifer said, “so we made it an in-tank product, where all you have to do is pop the top and pour it in the fuel tank. Within an hour of runtime, we are getting a cleaning of the injection system.”
Redifer said the Diesel Injector and DPF Flush removes the carbon built up on the injectors so they can inject the fuel properly.
“That balances out the flow rate between all of the injectors, and the engine goes back to running smooth and efficient,” he said. “Then you are going to reduce the amount of unburnt particulate that is going downstream to the DPF filter.”
Redifer said two types of consumers are RVing: consumers who travel frequently and consumers who park their motorhomes for a long time. He said both consumer types could benefit from using Diesel Injector and DPF Flush.
Redifer said, “It is vital to keep that system clean.”
